The Mooretown Lady Flags Girls Hockey Association is proud to partner with the Face Off for Mental Health campaign this
Saturday, Nov. 29, for an important Awareness Day in Mooretown.
Together, we’re working to raise awareness about youth mental health, share vital resources, and encourage meaningful conversations within our hockey community.
On Saturday, the Face Off for Mental Health team will be on site with an information table offering helpful resources for teams, families, and visitors.
Players are invited to tape their sticks green, and coaches are encouraged to reinforce that the rink is a safe space, where trusted adults are available to offer encouragement, and help connect players with additional support if needed. Fans and players are also encouraged to wear green and create posters with positive, supportive messages.
According to Statistics Canada, about
one in five youth who rated their mental health as good or better in 2019 no longer felt that way in 2023 — with girls more likely than boys to report a decline.
When we talk openly about mental health and work to reduce stigma, we make it easier for people to seek help sooner. By fostering empathy and understanding, we help build a supportive environment where individuals feel comfortable sharing their struggles and accessing the care they need.
